Visiting any Golden Haven memorial park is a fantastic way to unwind. With plenty of open spaces, fresh air, lush greenery, and world-class amenities, it’s perfect for bidding the week’s stress away. Not sure how? We’re showing you eight activities you can do to unwind at any Golden Haven park.

But before that, let’s talk about some important stuff. Specifically, why we need to get ourselves some me-time.

Why It’s Important to Unwind

Many people are so obsessed with productivity that they oftentimes forget to slow down, breathe, and give their bodies and minds time to relax. As a result, they get burned out and feel like they’re always tired, then they drink a ton of coffee to help their body and brain function properly. Subsequently, they feel anxious, they get less sleep, they feel more tired, and then their performance falters.

Does this sound familiar? If you feel that this is so you, know that you’re not alone.

Not spending enough time to let your body and mind ease up could hurt not only your productivity but also your health.

According to research, relaxing regularly offers plenty of benefits such as keeping your heart healthier, reducing stress, improving brain function, and preventing depression. So, if you haven’t jotted “Me Time” on your schedule of activities for the week, then you’re doing yourself a disservice.

Fortunately, there are many ways to unwind, and there are a lot of places available to help you loosen up. Our parks, for instance, are perfect for this type of activity!

Without further ado, we give you eight great ways you can unwind at our beautiful parks.

1. Walking

Walking is one of the simplest yet often forgotten means to unwind. Of course, we’re not talking about the morning rush when you “walk” swiftly towards your destination worried about being late. We’re talking about the simple walk alongside nature, basking in the beautiful warm sunlight, smelling the refreshing scent of moist earth and wet grass, feeling the cool breeze touching your skin, as you stroll around slowly, noticing the details of the beauty that is before you.

Mindful walking can help relieve stress by promoting the release of endorphins which stimulate relaxation and improve mood.

2. Exploring the Park With Your Furry Friend

Different people have different ways to unwind. Some prefer being by themselves, others prefer the company of family or friends, and some love the sloppy kisses and fluffy warmth that furry pals provide. If you belong to the third type, then this activity is perfect for you!

Golden Haven memorial parks have many amenities and places to explore with your furbaby. You can walk around the vicinity and play with your doggo. Interacting with pets can help decrease the stress hormone cortisol, and lower blood pressure. Moreover, they can also help increase happiness and boost your mood.

3. Lying Down on the Grass

Isn’t it amazing how one small plant on your office desk somehow transforms the feel of your workplace? Plants are natural stress suckers–don’t mind the term. They seem to suck all the bad vibes away. One look at your little piece of potted plant instantly lifts you up. It’s like earth magic! But it can also be explained by science.

Nature heals. Looking at nature (like in our plant example above) can already ease away tension and brighten up your mood. How much more if you’re actually surrounded by nature? If you’re feeling down and sad and stressed, go over to any of our parks and try lying down on the grass. It can help make you feel better–emotionally and physically.

4. Having a Picnic

A picnic can be done by yourself or with your family. And it’s an especially potent relaxation method if cooking or food is your stress reliever.

Put your chef’s hat on and concoct something you like–a simple sandwich or a full-on gourmet Japanese spread, anything you like really. You can even order take-out if you’d rather not cook.

Then, you can grab a picnic mat and some refreshing coolers, head over to the nearest Golden Haven park, and enjoy.

5. Reading a Book Under the Shade

If you’re a bookworm, like yours truly, then sometimes all you need to unwind is a picnic mat, a cup of your favorite iced beverage, a tree for shade, and a good book. There’s something magical about flipping pages in the presence of nature. Don’t believe me? Try it at our park!

6. Exercise

Exercising is a great way to de-stress. It bumps up your endorphins which make you feel good, reduces stress, and improve your overall mood. As a plus, it can also help you stay fit and healthy. Moreover, our park is an excellent venue for your workout. There’s plenty of wide-open space and fresh air!

Oh, and here’s a little tip. You can ask our office for scheduled Zumba sessions if you’d like to work out with a crowd. Meeting new friends along the way can also be fun!

7. Meditation

Meditating outdoors and close to mother nature gives you that additional relaxation mojo (if there is such a thing). Remember when we said nature heals–this is another option that you can do to maximize the earth’s energy.

Observing your thoughts while sitting on the green grass, and breathing in the fresh air can help you cleanse your thoughts and revel in positive energy. Simply perfect for unwinding!

8. Basking in the Peaceful Atmosphere and Counting Your Blessings

Sometimes, all you need is to laze in the stillness of things. If that’s your idea of relaxation you’re not alone, and certainly nobody would and should judge you. So, if you feel like you just want to sit still and do nothing, you can at Golden Haven Parks. We have plenty of space for you to sprawl and stroll around, or sit, and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

It’s a good way to appreciate the beauty of life, think about all the wonderful blessings you’ve received–such as being able to wake up in the morning, having warm food for breakfast, being able to call your family any time, your noisy friends, your boring or busy job that helps pay your bills and bring food to the table, and having the time to experience all these!

Relaxation is as important as being productive. So, don’t hesitate to spare a few hours of your week for unwinding.

When was the last time you gave yourself some me-time? If you can’t remember anymore, then you owe yourself some delightful time off. Don’t know where to start? Visit any of our parks and try our recommendations above!
